When installing and starting the FindMe services, you may get an Access Denied Code 5 error message.  This is because the Windows user account you are logged in with does not have elevated access, even if you have full administrator rights.  There are a couple of possible solutions for this.

Open a Command Window

You will need to know about DOS like commands for these steps.

  1. Bring up the Search field under Start.
  2. Type in CMD.
  3. When CMD appears in the search list, right-click on it and select Run as Administrator.
  4. You should get a black window (like the old DOS windows).
  5. Navigate to the folder FindMe is installed in, eg. CD\PhonePad.
  6. For FindMe Server, type findmeserver /install.  For FindMe Client, type findmeclient /install.
  7. For FindMe Server, type net start findmeserver.  For FindMe Client, type net start findmeclient.

If all goes well, FindMe should install and start successfully.

Login Using the Windows Default Administrator Account

If the above doesn't work, there is a built-in administrator account that is disabled by default.

  1. Bring up the Search field under Start.
  2. Type in CMD.
  3. When CMD appears in the search list, right-click on it and select Run as Administrator.
  4. You should get a black window (like the old DOS windows).
  5. Type in this window: net user administrator /active:yes
  6. You should get a message "command completed successfully".
  7. Now we need to set a password for the administrator account, so type net user administrator <password>, where <password> is the password you want to use.
  8. Now you should be able to login to the server using the built-in administrator account and the password you set.

You should be able to install the FindMe services (or any other service for that matter).  If you have Switch User enabled, you can switch to the Administrator account without logging out.
