These instructions only apply if you have PhonePad physically installed on a workstation.
| 1. | Once PhonePad has been installed, run DBConnect. |
| 2. | Under the Connection tab, select Remote Mode. |
| 3. | Click on the Remote Settings button. |
| 4. | If you are connecting across a LAN, select 0 for Data Compression. If you are connecting across the Internet, select 6. |
| 5. | Under Data Encryption, check the Encrypt data to/from server option if you are connecting across the Internet. Otherwise, leave it unchecked. |
| 8. | Click on the Listen for IP Announcement button so that it is depressed. Make sure that the PhonePad Server (DBServer) has it's Announce option on*. |
| 9. | Within 15 seconds, DBConnect should receive a broadcasted announcement* from DBServer. The Server IP, and Admin and Main ports fields will be filled in automatically and the Listen for IP Announcement button will unselect itself. |
| 10. | Test the connection with DBServer by clicking the Test Server button. |
* For this feature to work, any routers or bridges on your network must be configured to allow UDP connections on port 12500.
