The Address Book tab contains various options for customizing the Address Book.
Adding and Updating
| Add New Callers to Address Book | If checked, automatically adds new callers to the Address Book. |
| Update Address Book | If checked, automatically updates existing Address Book entries. |
| Prompt When Adding Callers | If checked, prompts you before adding new callers to the Address Book. Only valid if Add New Callers to Address Book is enabled. |
| Prompt When Updating Callers | If checked, prompts you before updating existing callers in the Address Book. |
Phone Number Updating
| Automatically Update Field | When selected, automatically updates the specified field in the Address Book whenever the phone field is changed in a phone message. You can set it to update the Telephone, Alt. Phone, Fax, or Cell/Mobile field. |
Prompt Field to Update When selected, prompts for the appropriate field to update in the Address Book.
Default Entry Permissions
| Private | If checked, new Address Book entries will be Private (ie. they won't appear to other users in their Address Book or when creating new messages). |
| Updateable by Other Users | If checked, new Address Book entries can be updated by other users (you can always update your own Address Bookentries). |
Address Book List
| Buffer Address Book List | When checked, the Address Book list only loads a limited number of entries. The reason for this is to conserve system resources and improve performance. When you scroll through the list, entries will be automatically loaded and displayed with very little lag, if any. |
One downside to this is that the vertical scroll bar's thumb button will not scroll entries until you release it. If you prefer the list to scroll as you move the thumb button then you can uncheck this option. But be warned: if you have a large Address Book this can dramatically slow down the initial Address Book window loading.
| Show ALL Tab | When checked, the ALL tab will be displayed, allowing you to view all Address Book entries at once. Uncheck this option to improve performance if you have a large Address Book. |
| Show Lines | When checked, the Address Book list will display horizontal lines |
