We are pleased to announce the release of the Target Heart Rate Calculator (THRC), Version 1.00. This application allows you to calculate your target heart rate range, based on your age, for obtaining the maximum benefit from cardiovascular exercise.

The way it works is you enter your age, and then it calculates your heart rate range that will provide you the most benefit when doing any sort of cardio work. While working out, you monitor your heart rate to ensure you are within the range. Some people don't work out hard enough and others work out too hard. We're no experts on this, of course, and the calculations are only an approximation, but we find it gives good results.

There are other calculators of this type available on the Internet but this is one we developed for ourselves that we have been using for many years. We decided others might get some use out of it too so we have now made it available for free to whoever wants to use it.
